Shanna Van Maurik is an oil painter and installation artist who lives and works in Toronto, Canada. Graduating from OCAD University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting and a minor in Art History, she was awarded for her work in Life and portrait study as well as Contemporary painting. Shanna’s practice is centered on the creation of invented characters in painting informed by her own relationship with nature and experiences of youth. Celebrated for a dreamlike and unique treatment of colour, her work has been exhibited throughout Canada, the United States, as well as Japan, and can be found among collections internationally.
